Day 1: Arrival in Paro and Transfer to Thimphu
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by a tour representative who will accompany you on a scenic road trip to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The journey spans 55 km and includes a visit to Chuzom, a cultural site at the confluence of the Paro and Thimphu rivers. Once in Thimphu, you will check into your hotel and, after a brief rest, embark on a city tour. Highlights include the Tashichho Dzong, also known as the Fortress of Glorious Religion, which serves as the seat of the Chief Abbot and the Monarch’s throne room. The tour continues with a walking exploration of the city's vibrant market regions and Main Street. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing and Transfer to Paro
After breakfast, you will visit Kuensel Phodrang, commonly known as Buddha Point, where you can admire the largest statue of Buddha in Bhutan and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. Next, you will visit the King's Memorial Chorten, a renowned religious site where pilgrims and locals gather to chant prayers and spin prayer wheels. The day continues with visits to the Textile Museum, showcasing local dress and weaving techniques, and the Folk Heritage Museum, which offers insight into rural life and folk traditions. After lunch, you will check out of your hotel and drive to Paro, a journey of approximately 90 minutes. In Paro, you will visit Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower turned National Museum, and enjoy a walking tour of Rinpung Dzong, a fortress famous for its architectural beauty. Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 3: Transfer to Punakha
After checking out of your hotel, you will be driven to Punakha, with a stop at Dochula Pass to enjoy stunning views of the higher Himalayas. The journey includes a visit to Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility, and Punakha Dzong, a historic fortress located at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers, which once served as the seat of government. Upon arrival in Punakha, you will check into your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Exploring Paro
After breakfast, you will explore the scenic Paro Valley, beginning with a drive to Drukgyel Dzong, a 17th-century fortress now in ruins. You will have the opportunity to explore traditional Bhutanese farmhouses around the fortress. On the way back to Paro, you will visit Kyichu Lhakhang, a 7th-century temple built by the Tibetan ruler Songtsen Gampo, offering beautiful views of Mount Jhomolhari. The evening is free for exploring the city center or shopping. Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 5: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery
Today, you will embark on a hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest. The hike through pine forests offers stunning views and a sense of serenity. After the hike, you will visit Ta Dzong and Paro Rinpung Dzong before returning to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, you will check out from the hotel. A tour representative will drive you to Paro International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your memorable journey through Bhutan.
